The Tv movies featuring as episodes in the Tv series "Alfred Hitchcock presents" will be presented below.
The Tv series was launched in what appeares to be Hitchcock's most productive period, the fifties. For this purpose he established the production company Shamley Productions, named after the country house by the small English village Shamley Green, the Hitchcock family bought using his first income as a director in 1928. The following were hired as permanent staff on the Tv series:
Joan Harrison (loyal co-worker from the British era) was hired as producer, Francis Cockrell was the permanent scriptwriter, James Allardyce was the one hired to write the short, black and ironic/macabre intro, Hitch appeared in just before every episode.
The first episode was launched on October 2, 1955, in the period from 1955 to 1962 they were able to produce 365 episodes. Only 20 of these episodes was directed by Hitchcock; these movies were nothing but pastime, occational inferior work between the more serious filmmaking - in addition he didn't exercise complete control over the scriptwriting as he would normally do, in fact he didn't seem to participate in the scriptwriting at all. He developed a routine that enabled him to make a 30 minute Tv movie in two days of rehearsal and two days of shooting.
I will go through the 20 Tv movies Hitchcock directed below.
